The Improving Dispute Resolution Advisory Service for Further and Higher Education
The Improving Dispute Resolution Advisory Service for Further and Higher Education (IDRAS) has developed from a project funded by the Higher Education Funding Council for England under its Leadership, Governance and Management Fund: Improving Dispute Resolution – Transforming Policy and Practice in Dispute Resolution in HEIs, and is grateful to HEFCE for seed-corn funding to enable us to launch this new venture.
We are not a regulatory body and we have no formal powers.
We provide independent initial free support to individual students, employees and researchers
- who find themselves involved in disputes with providers of further and higher education. All requests for advice will be kept confidential. Further advice may be offered free at our discretion. We cannot advise on the merits of any particular case but we may be able to help you find out what steps you can take.
We offer guidance for employers; providers and partners of providers of further and higher education; and research funders
- seeking to revise their procedures and improve their dispute-resolution practice.
Our advice seeks to reflect best practice and is based on research and extensive case-experience. We hope to encourage member institutions and others to make their own contribution to building an up-to-date resource which will keep up with developments in the present period of significant change for everyone involved in further and higher education.
